I’m Kendra, the creator of Slo Burn Candle Co.

I’m a former nurse who grew up in a family of craftspeople in rural New England. After many years doing my dream job, it was time for a change and a different type of challenge. I left my job without a plan, but with a lot of creativity waiting to be be realized.

Since early 2024 I have been lucky enough to have the humbling and inspiring experience of learning a craft that’s new to me: candle making. My techniques are self taught, but are also a patchwork of knowledge and skills compiled and shared by generations of makers and artists before me. For me, making art and sharing it with others is the best way I know of paying the gift of that shared knowledge forward.

Just as the cairns I was inspired by have done for travelers through history, in many ways creating these little stacks of wax stones has provided me a waypoint, a source of direction, and a reconnection with my roots when the next step was unclear. I hope that wherever we find you, our candles provide a sense of light, meaning and joy in your life too.
